My vintage branding reflects my love of history and timeless values like exceptional customer service and reliable, timely delivery.

I’m Caroline, and I provide expert copy-editing, proofreading, copywriting and research solutions. While I primarily work within the business and publishing sectors, feel free to reach out if your project lies outside these areas—I may still be able to assist! 

Additionally, I specialise in website design, crafting beautiful, user-friendly sites that are customised to meet each client’s unique needs.

A bit about me

I’ve been self-employed since 2013, starting as a virtual assistant, where I took on a wide range of responsibilities—from streamlining back-office systems and processes to managing customer service, marketing and event coordination. Along the way, I gained valuable experience in website design, including maintaining and upgrading existing sites as well as building new ones.

Later, I chose to specialise in proofreading and copy-editing, becoming a member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP). To enhance my expertise, I’ve completed over 20 courses with both the CIEP and The Publishing Training Centre (PTC), ensuring my skills remain sharp and up-to-date.

Working with publishers

Recently, my work has focused on English language teaching books, audio courses and primary and secondary education textbooks, covering subjects such as English, history and the sciences. 

This work encompasses a wide range of tasks, including proofreading, fact-checking, copy-editing, manuscript development and audio listening checks. I find immense satisfaction in this type of work, as it appeals to my love for precision and attention to detail.

Esteemed Editing Children Publishers

My passion for working on children’s books stems from my own childhood, where I would often spend 8 to 10 hours a day immersed in stories. My favorite author was Enid Blyton, and I devoured most of her books countless times. From the enchanting worlds of The Magic Faraway Tree and Brer Rabbit to the humorous escapades of The Naughtiest Girl in the School, I was captivated. The Famous Five and Secret Seven series ignited my love for mysteries, which has carried into my adult life, fueling my passion for the crime genre.

 

As a teenager, I was drawn to the works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Agatha Christie. My later career as a police officer only deepened my connection to the crime genre and forensic science, giving me an insider’s perspective that I still cherish today.

Beyond my professional life, I have a wide range of hobbies and interests. I’m a community archaeologist, genealogist, watercolour artist, crafter, furniture painter and cook. I’m also an avid animal lover with a deep appreciation for history and antiques. Where I Iive

I live on a working farm, in the middle of the Cambridgeshire countryside, where the land is flat and the skies are huge, which makes for beautiful sunsets. I spend my time working with words or immersed in my aforementioned hobbies, life could be worse!
