I’m passionate about publishing, whether that be books or digital content, and I’ve worked hard to build an in-depth knowledge of publishing standards and editorial excellence.
My client relationships are built on trust and I’m known for my flexibility to step in at late notice, my ability to find workable solutions and my dedication to deadlines. I’m able to foresee potential problems and effectively manage change, keeping projects on track and completed to a high standard.

Children’s books
Most recently, I’ve been working with publishers such as Cambridge University Press, Pearson Education, Hodder Education and Berlitz. The work has been varied but has included copy-editing and proofreading primary and secondary education textbooks for children (including English, history and the sciences), and English language teaching books and audio courses.
This work can involve everything from proofreading, fact-checking and copy-editing, to manuscript development and audio listening checks. I adore this kind of work as it really appeals to my need for perfection.

How I can help
As a copy-editor, I will focus on the finer points of your manuscript, such as font, word choice, syntax, factual accuracy, repetition, inconsistencies, grammar, style, spelling and repetition. I’ll assist you in tweaking and finessing content so where relevant, the story has an important lesson, and is easy to follow for the chosen age-range.
If you require a proofreader, I’ll compare the proof to the final copy edits and correct any lingering textual errors, as well as any word, line, paragraph or page breaks. I’ll also ensure that all illustrations are of high-quality and are age-appropriate.
I also work on non-fiction. I’ve experience in copy-editing and updating textbooks for publishers – researching facts to bring them up-to-date. I can help you to check that names, events, quotations and other facts are up-to-date and accurate.

Other publishing interests
I’m keen to expand my knowledge into other areas of publishing. I have many hobbies and areas of interest; I’m an ex-police officer and I have an avid affection and devotion for the crime genre (both fiction and non-fiction) and forensic science.
I’m also a community archaeologist, genealogist, watercolour artist, crafter, cook, painter of furniture, animal lover and I have an immense love of history and antiques, so my interests are not limited.
